Candace Parker is headed back to the basketball court tonight after welcoming daughter Lailaa Nicole seven weeks ago. The LA Sparks’ forward recently rejoined her team for practices and admits that “it was great” to be playing again. “I was just really excited to practice so I treated it like a game almost because you miss it. I’ve been away from basketball for nine months, 10 months really, so it’s great to be back on the court.”

When she’s not preparing for her comeback, Candace has been soaking up time with her little girl.

“It’s been the best thing ever. My husband [NBA star Shelden Williams] and I really enjoy watching our daughter grow. It’s amazing how much they change in a short amount of time. She makes me smile every day.”

Making the end of her maternity leave easier is fellow teammate Lisa Leslie, who Candace has been going to for advice. Lisa, who is mom to two-year-old Lauren Jolie, knows what it is like to trying to get back on the court and juggle both basketball and motherhood. “We talk all the time about everything, the baby, nursing, nanny, travel, everything,” shared Lisa. “I feel honored to be a mentor to Candace. She has a great network of people around her like I did and that’s what helps you.”

Candace and the Sparks face off against the Phoenix Mercury this evening at 6:30.

Happy birthday Mom! Tichina Arnold’s 4 ½-year-old daughter Alijah Kai helps her slice into her Cold Stone Creamery cake as the pair, along with friends and family, celebrated the actress’ 40th birthday at Slate Restaurant in New York City last Sunday.

Tichina is currently starring as Evilene in NY City Center’s run of The Wiz, which closes tomorrow.

Got bottles or sippy cups? Whichever way you clean/sterilize, you’re going to need to air dry them, and you might like Prince Lionheart’s The Complete Drying Station ($15). This drying organizer accommodates all sizes of bottles, cups, nipples, spoons, forks and cup parts. It also has accessory hooks for pacifiers, teethers and toys and an extra compartment for sippy cup valves/parts. It’s also treated with an EPA additive to inhibit the growth of microorganisms that can cause odors and mildew.

I liked the way The Complete Drying Station was set up — the organization was terrific. There was a place for all the bottle and cup parts that I needed to dry. I also liked that the flange on the bottom of the rack tilted down into my sink (giving even more drainage for the rack).

When it comes to looking out for daughters Sam, 5, and Lola Rose, 4, Denise Richards says that everything she needed to know, she learned from her dad; Irv Richards had a few tricks up his sleeve, however! “When we were teenagers, he used to tap our phones,” she quips to MomLogic. “He worked for the phone company, so he had all the equipment.”

While it’s unlikely that Denise will go that far, there isn’t much she won’t do to make sure that the girls are okay. “As a parent now, it’s harder to keep tabs on our children, but I will be vigilant,” she promises. From the sound of things — for now — she has little to worry about!

“They pretty much think boys are yucky.”

Although Denise continues to come under fire for allowing the girls to appear on her reality show Denise Richards: It’s Complicated, the criticism is unfounded, she says. “Everyone is so judgmental when it comes to raising kids: if you breastfeed or not, feed them only organic foods,” she laments. “The bottom line is, I’m not exploiting my children.” Noting that Lola and Sam are only on screen “for about a minute here and there,” Denise points out that “the show isn’t about them.” Instead, their participation is a good thing, she adds.

“I get to incorporate them into the show — which means I can take them to school as part of my job. How many single working moms can say that?”

Sam and Lola are Denise’s children with ex-husband Charlie Sheen.

After two blocks into my first jaunt with the Radio Flyer Pack & Go Canopy Wagon I could see why moms have been toting kids in wagons for so many years. It’s a breeze to cart two kids (and their stuff) around in this amazing wagon. And to say the kids enjoy the ride would be an understatement.

Singing may be Darryl Worley’s passion but his greatest joy is his 14-month-old daughter! Savannah Gail is described as “very advanced, a very smart baby girl. Just beautiful, red hair, blue eyes,” by her proud papa.

The country singer is treasuring each new stage in Savannah’s life and is enjoying it when she has him on the floor laughing with her personality and vocabulary! “She says everything. You’ve gotta be careful because she doesn’t have a filter. She will just blurt it out,” says Darryl, adding that  “she’s got about 400 [facial] expressions at this point. She’ll raise her eyebrows up and it’s like, ‘What’re you gonna do?’ It’s just hilarious.”

Now that Darryl is seeing more and more of Savannah’s personality develop, it wouldn’t shock him if she entered his field when she’s older. “She seems to me like she might be an entertainer. I don’t know what kind. But she just has the coolest personality. Outgoing, loves people. She was at Waffle House with us this mornin’ and she greeted everybody who came in the door,” he laughs. While he enjoys his boisterous baby, it’s Savannah’s soft side that really gets to Darryl.

“When she gets sleepy, she’s very loving. Until that, she’s very independent. But she gets this real warm fuzzy lovin’ mood and she gets real generous with her little sugar and kisses, and it’ll just about make your heart melt.”

Fatherhood has taught Darryl a lot in a short time — including how he could have made life easier for his own dad! “I wish that I had … made a little bit more out of [Father's Day] when I was growin’ up,” he notes. “That was a whole different generation. My dad’s best Father’s Day gift ever would’ve been if we’d cleaned out the gutters or something. It’s just true. That’s one more thing that he wouldn’t have to do.” No matter what, Darryl knows that he has a “good dad” and is happy that “we’re closer than we’ve ever been before.”

Savannah is Darryl and his wife Kimberly’s first child.

Some expectant parents are fortunate enough to quickly and easily settle on a name for baby-on-the-way, but more often than not, the decision is one that is agonized over. Imagine, then, doubling that agony — with twins! That was the challenge facing Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, who welcomed twin daughters Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Ewell 11 days ago. While the reaction by CBB readers to their choice in names ran the gamut, nameberry.com co-founder Linda Rosenkrantz notes that the couple are “just the latest in the bumper crop of twin starbabies to be born in the celebrity world in the last few years.”

But regardless of your celebrity status — or lack thereof – the same tricky terrain must be navigated, and the possibilities are endless. “Should they be alliterative (Addison and Ava) or rhyming (Chloe and Zoe) or themed (Violet and Daisy), as they so often used to be, or are matchy-matchy names a thing of the past?” Linda asks. “Should the names be contrasting or similar in style, separate but equal?” With regard to the latter, Linda notes that equality is subjective — and not so easily achieved!

“Could jealousy rear its ugly head later in life if just one of the pair is chosen to inherit Mom or Dad’s name? One of Rebecca Romijn’s daughters has Rebecca as a middle name, the other does not.” Patrick Dempsey’s boys each took a piece of his name for their middle — one is called Sullivan Patrick, while the other is Darby Galen, dad’s middle name.

The full range of approaches have been explored by celebrity parents. For Charlie and Brooke Mueller Sheen, short and sweet won out, with Charlie joking that twin sons Bob and Max were so-named because they are “easy to spell.” Julie Bowen also embraced this mindset with twins Gus and John. For other couples, it’s hard to tell the gender from the name. Melissa and Tammy Lynn Etheridge opted for the gender-bending combination of Miller and Johnnie for their boy-girl twins, while Lisa Marie Presley named her twin daughters Harper and Finley.

Twins also provide their parents with twice as many chances to pay tribute to their family heritage. Hodge and Ewell both come from Sarah Jessica Parker’s family tree, D’Lila Star and Jessie James — the 2 ½-year-old twins of Kim Porter and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs — both have ancestral connections, and Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s twins Maximilian David and Emme Maribel honor Jennifer’s father and Marc’s late sister respectively.

Speaking of tradition, you’d be hard-pressed to find one more closely associated with twins than the tradition of sharing a first initial. Hold still mom! Liam Aaron McDermott, 2, uses Tori Spelling as his own personal sand castle while enjoying a day at the Silver Spoon Beach House on Wednesday in Malibu, Calif.

Tori, husband Dean McDermott, Liam and daughter Stella Doreen, 1, played in the sand and surf — the parents tried paddle boarding as well! — before heading home.
